2 nights at 4-star Tsetang Hotel Main Wing
Breakfast at your hotel. You will first of all drive to visit the Yumbulakhang, a castle built in the 7 th and 8 th centuries during the time of the first Tibetan kings. It is far viewed that the castle is high on the rock hills and looks brightly white. Then you will head for Samye Monastery. Located in the north of Yarlung Tsangpo River and hold in the arms of mountains, it is the oldest monastery of Tibet (8 th century).
In the morning you will be transferred to visit holy Lake Yamdrok (4441 m), one of the three holy lakes in Tibet and the largest habitat of waterfowls in south Tibet. Then you will drive to Gyantse to visit its mighty Pelkor Monastery and Kumbum. The Pelkor Monastery and the mighty Kumbum Stupa were built in the15th century and situated in the northwestern edge of Gyantse. This typical Tibetan Buddhist monastery is the only one large building complex in Tibet that old monastery and stupas are completely preserved and characterized as a monument.
1 night at 3-star plus Gyantse Hotel (local best)
This morning you shall explore the Gyantse Fort that overlooks the entire town of Gyantse. Then depart for Shigatse and on the way visit Shalu Monastery, a fantastic blending of both Han Chinese and Tibetan architecture style. In the afternoon you shall take a trip to the Summer Palace of the Panchen Lamas.
1 night at 4-star Shigatse Tashikyuta Hotel or similar
In the morning visit Tashilunpo monastery of Gelug Sect, the seat of the Panchen Lama built in 1447 and one of the six grand monasteries in Tibet. In the afternoon you will drive to Lhasa and visit a local Tibetan family near Lhasa.
3 nights at Lhasa Kyichu Hotel New Wing (Tibetan style, similar to 4-star)
Today you will have a full day tour in Lhasa to visit its must-see attractions such as the Potala Palace, the landmark of Lhasa and the traditional winter residence of the Dalai Lamas, Jokhang Temple, the center of the Tibetan Buddhism and the sacred land of Buddhist followers, Barkhor Street, a big local bazaar in Tibet and perhaps the most famous open market on the land of snow. Apart from the normal walking at the Barkhor, you will visit couple of little chapels set clockwise at the holy pilgrimage circuit surrounding Jokhang Temple.
Breakfast at your hotel. Then you will meet with your guide and driver who will escort and accompany you to the foot of the Pabonka Monastery, one of the most ancient Buddhist sites in the whole Tibet that is noted for its tranquil meditation place. You will take a walking tour with your guide to explore the whole mountain with visits to little temples, holy cave, running spring and nice hermitages for the nuns etc. This place is one of the less visited sites in Lhasa that mass tourists never been here. You will have a picnic lunch during the walking. In the afternoon you will descend the mountain to Sera Monastery, one of the “Big Three” Gelupa Monasteries in and around Lhasa. This afternoon you may have the opportunity to see monks debating at Sera.
